cloud nine

once upon a time there was a guy flying to rio de janeiro and instead of watching 4 movies and killing time on the way there he fell in love with his flight attendant… they spent her layover in brasil together and the rest is history.

fairytale right? we thought so too when our couple told us how they met and we were so excited to design and plan their wedding. they wanted to celebrate with a lot of family and friends but still keep a relaxed summer party feel to it. no exuberant flower decoration, no floor length tablecloths, no boring table plan. they simply showed us a wedding invitation designed by oscar de la renta and told us they liked all the colours.

with this we started to design the concept.

of course we wanted to show their story in the design. so for the table plan we made use of the cliché phrase “coffee, tea or me…?” and we love how fun it turned out. the tiles we used as name cards on the plates are a reminder of the mosaic stairs in rio de janeiro where they spent their very first days together. everything fell in place for the concept and we were really excited.

and then the pandemic happened… with loads of international guests it didn’t make sense for them to go ahead with a big wedding and they decided to have an intimate civil wedding instead. of course we completely understood their decision. still we thought it would be a shame to waste the design we did for it and decided to set it up as a styled shoot with great suppliers! we are so glad we get to show you and are super happy with the result. we hope you like it as much as we do…!
